To make the uniform tie through out the country, it is based on the Central Meridian of the country or the meridian of the country or the meridian at which the most important cities are located. Such Central Meridian is called as Standard Time. The Meridian passes through Allahabad and close to Chennai. The time based on the Indian Standard Time. The I.S.T is ahead GMT.
