The scientist Robert Brown suspended the pollen grains and looked into the water through the microscope it was noticed that pollen grains moves on the surface of the water in a very irregular way because they are constantly being hit by the moving particles of the water. The zig zag motion of pollen grains is known as Brownian motion.
